) Thai police arrest suspected paedophile
Bangkok - A Canadian paedophile suspect who was the target of a vigorous international hunt has been arrested in Nakorn Ratchasima, Thailand, 210 kilometres northeast of Bangkok, according to the local Interpol representative Friday. The fugitive, Christopher Paul Neil, 32, a wandering English teacher, has been the focus of investigations on several continents after German police "uncoiled" his digitalling altered internet photographs that showed him abusing many young boys in Cambodia and Vietnam.
The Thai police issued an arrest warrant Thursday after a Thai boy came forward to accuse the Canadian of paying for oral sex.
"We have got him. I can't give you more details right now. We will be bringing him to Bangkok," said Lt. Col Apichart Suriboonya, a Thai official working for Interpol in Bangkok. More>> - (

A South African expatriate has told how he helped to snare the notorious paedophile dubbed the "Swirly Perv" in Thailand. Alf Haupt alerted Thai police after meeting Canadian paedophile Christopher Neil in his hotel in the resort of Pattaya, which is known as Thailand's sex tourism capital. Officers recovered CCTV footage on Thursday night showing Neil checking in at the Ben Mansions hotel with a 25-year-old Thai cross-dresser. Transvestites in Pattaya identified the cross-dresser to police, and phone records allowed officers to track the pair down in the north-eastern city of Nakhon Ratchasima just hours later. . ) Business Players Still Uncertain About Economic Recovery: Survey
BANGKOK, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Most business players remained uncertain that the Thai economy would recover in the second half of this year and next year, the Thailand news agency reported Thursday quoting a survey by the Bank of Thailand. The uncertainity is due to the energy price, the baht's movement and the political situation which is still volatile. The survey was made on business operators in various areas nationwide in the third quarter of this year on their opinions toward the Thai economy. It revealed that most business industrialists viewed the overall economy and operational results of the business sector in the third quarter had stayed unchanged from those of the previous quarter.
